Echelon Smart Connect EX1 Indoor Cycle – Review

by Bob Cooke Have you ever wished that you could enjoy the live spin class experience from your own home for a more affordable price? If so, then this Echelon bike is for you! Check out the Echelon Smart Connect EX1 Indoor Cycle! Before we get into the features in the app, let us first touch on the Echelon bike itself. The Echelon EX1 combines a heavy duty frame, an extremely smooth drive train, and a perfectly weighted flywheel. It also has a very durable resistance magnet to provide an exceptional spin experience, available for under $1,000. As an additional bonus, this Echelon bike also comes with dual sided pedals (the user can opt to use the standard toe cages or lock in their riding shoes) and a dumbbell holder (hand weights are used in many of the classes). These accessories come with the Echelon bike completely free of charge! So how did the Echelon company figure out a way for the home consumer to enjoy access to live and on demand spin and workout classes for under $2500? The answer is both simple and brilliant. Echelon took away the often overpriced tablet that other companies force you to buy and instead allows the user to connect the bike to their own personal smart device (iPad, iPhone, Android, etc). Simply download the Echelon app to your device, press down on the blue tooth connect button (found on the EX1) and you are ready to roll! You now have access to live interactive classes, on demand classes and fun scenic trail rides. The cost of the most inclusive app is $39.99 (monthly) or $399.99 (yearly). I highly recommend the Echelon EX1 bike. The features, the feel and the price (most importantly) are fantastic! My only very slight issue with the EX1 is that there are only 7 height settings for the seat (approx. 1 inch apart) and 4 height settings for the handle bar (approx 1 inch apart). If you would prefer a spin bike with more customization in regards to height settings. I would recommend looking into the Echelon EX3 Smart Connect Bike a little further.
