Hoist Mi6 Functional Trainer Review

by Trent Potts
The Hoist Mi6 Functional Trainer is an excellent home gym. Combining all the exercises of a traditional home gym, the Mi6 also offers hundreds of variations. With the accessories included, obtaining a full body workout is easily achievable. Two adjustable strap handles, dual attachment long strap for body weight exercises, dual attachment long aluminum bar, padded ankle and thigh strap, and a straight curl bar for a variety of exercises. The dual weight stacks are great for doing circuit training (ie Biceps/Triceps), or for two people to workout at the same time. One thing often mentioned by a person new to functional trainers is that they are not set up like a traditional home gym. Traditional home gyms are easy to “see” the exercises before performing one. Hoist offers an app (Hoist Fitness App) that you can get for your phone or tablet that takes all the guessing out of your workouts. Want to train back but you don’t want to do just pull ups? The app has a section where you can choose a body part and then several examples of not only what exercise, but how to do the exercise is displayed. There are two still frame shots of the exercise, followed by the exercise in motion. This prevents workouts from becoming stale, and allows the user to challenge themselves to exercises they might not have tried before. Plus, the tablet holder is located right in the middle of the gym for ease of use during exercise.
