About Me
My name is Wayne Harris and I am currently a senior at the University of Delaware studying Health Behavior Science as my major and Entrepreneurial Studies as my minor. I aspire to educate, motivate and inform the public on health issues as well as seek ways on how I can intervene with them. My ultimate goal is to improve the life quality of others by improving their habits with regards to activity levels and eating plan.
Background
My passion for health promotion comes from my family. My maternal great-grandmother, grandmother, and great aunt were all diabetic. My paternal grandmother is diabetic as well. A host of other family members suffered from obesity and cancer. I am at a high risk of obtaining a chronic illness, which is why staying healthy is a massive priority in my life.
I stay active as much as possible! My preference is to play sports to get my exercise, but I’ll enjoy the occasional workout on my own if necessary!
I enjoy helping others, and I always have, even as I kid. I believe if I could help others see how important it is to be healthy and improve their quality of life, which would be my ultimate gift to give back to the world.
Current Fitness Habits
I do not have planned exercise times. I am a just go with the flow type of person. When I have free time I will do resistance training exercises such as push-ups, pull-ups, and dips. For my strength training, I lift weights ranging from 25 lbs to 175 lbs. I am not a big fan of running, but it if involves running for playing a sport then I am all in. So for cardio, I will play from 4 to 10 basketball pick-up games. My resistance training exercise will last about 20-25 minutes, while my strength training will last about 45 minutes to an hour. My cardio could range from an hour to three hours.
